“Roundabout visited us to run some dramatherapy sessions. Our clients who participated looked forward to their session every week and I saw a real change in positivity and confidence in group members. The facilitators were great and made a real effort to include each group member in each session. They have returned again to run additional sessions and once again I can see the changes being brought about. Thanks to the team for making it happen!”

“Roundabout works at our school supporting children with ASD and children with social and emotional problems. I have found the input of the dramatherapists invaluable and a vital part of ensuring that the children are able to access the educational opportunities we offer. Their willingness to work with children and their flexibility makes them one of the most useful therapies we have access to. All schools should have dramatherapy!”

“Roundabout offered an engaging, interactive and informative workshop which our young people really enjoyed. We would certainly work with them in the future.”

“Roundabout has been providing drama therapy here for 4 years. The therapists are considered an important part of our whole school team helping to meet the needs of children with autism and those who have been subject to Child Protection Plans within the main school. The therapists form trusting relationships with the children thereby enabling the children to explore their feelings, emotions and experiences in a safe, supported environment.

The therapists liaise closely with the staff team on a weekly basis to ascertain if there have been any changes for the child over the week and then to feedback any pertinent information to the staff. The therapists are very approachable and easy to talk to, always finding time to discuss staff observations and concerns. The therapists have attended Annual Reviews and Child Protection meetings when needed and have been able to add valuable information regarding the children’s progress.

We value the work of Roundabout very highly here and as a consequence continue to fund this annually.”

“I fully endorse the work of the Roundabout Dramatherapy service. Dramatherapy is an integral part of our curriculum particularly as we believe that access to specialist approaches ensures that children are at the heart of everything we do. This ethos is clearly supported by the therapeutic work that the therapist carries out. He is an excellent practitioner who not only supports children to identify and experience emotions such of happiness, relaxation, sadness, fear and anxiety through his story telling and play but also motivates these young people to go on a journey of exploration of their personal experiences, becoming more creative and imaginative with every session. Some of our young people find this a real challenge but through this multi-sensory approach to learning children thoroughly enjoy their sessions and as always others are waiting in the wings to join in with the fun!”

Headteacher of Link Primary School

“The dramatherapy is a much appreciated addition to our support for emotional health and has especially been of benefit to pupils who are reluctant or unable to communicate verbally.”

“Going to dramatherapy has given me a place to think about the things going on in my life and to work out ways to deal with them. Thanks.”

“This is better than any medicine.”

“This is the best thing we do, I look forward to it all week.”

“What would we do without this valuable group? The service users have a sense of belonging and it is their group without intrusion. The group enables the service users to enhance long forgotten social skills.”
