Roundabout nominated for Autism Award

by roundabout

We are delighted to be shortlisted for the National Autistic Society, Autism Professional Awards. We have been nominated for their Innovative Family Support Award, this award seeks to recognise and reward a team or organisation that has made a significant contribution to improving the way they support the families of autistic people. Click here.

This nomination recognises the dramatherapy groups for the sisters and brothers of young people on the autistic spectrum that we are currently running in South London. Through the dramatherapy sessions the children have been able to share their experiences of living with a sibling with autism and explore solutions and positive strategies. The dramatherapy sessions are being funded through a three year grant from Children In Need.

Currently the dramatherapy sessions have been taking place at Foresters Primary School in Wallington with children from different local schools attending.

Cindy, Roundabout’s link member of staff at Foresters school said “They bond with each other with similar life experiences and genuinely try and help each other, whilst joining in the Dramatherapy games and having fun”.
